Signing in or resetting your password if you're locked out
This article helps you get back into your account if you can't sign in.
Before you start
Confirm which sign-in method you originally used — email/password or Google.
Steps
- On makrprep.com/auth, click "Forgot password?", enter your email, and click Send reset email.
- MakrPrep shows the same confirmation either way, whether or not that email has an account: "If an account exists for that email, a reset link is on its way." This wording is deliberate — it doesn't confirm or deny whether an email is registered, so don't read anything into it either way; check your inbox (and spam folder) for the actual email.
- Following the link in the reset email lands you on makrprep.com/reset-password, which shows a "Set a new password" form — a New password field and an Update password button.
- If you signed up with Google, there's no MakrPrep password to reset — use "Continue with Google" instead.
What to expect
The final reset screen doesn't ask you to re-enter your email or old password — the emailed link itself identifies your account.
Common issues
- Signed up with Google but trying to use a password — there is no password on a Google-authenticated account; use "Continue with Google" instead.
- Confirmation message doesn't say whether the email was found — this is intentional (it prevents anyone from using the reset form to check which emails have MakrPrep accounts). If no email arrives after a few minutes, double-check you signed up with that address and didn't use "Continue with Google" instead.
