Troubleshooting

Why does my row show "splits ≠ making"?

This article helps you fix a Production Plan row flagged because a split doesn't add up.

Before you start
Applies only to rows you've split into child rows.

Steps

  1. Open the flagged row and review each split's quantity.
  2. Add them up and compare against the parent row's making value.
  3. Adjust whichever split is off — often the last one added, or one left at zero.
  4. If they look correct but the flag persists, check for a rounding gap between whole-batch splits and the exact quantity actually needed.
  5. This screenshot shows the normal split UI, with splits that add up correctly. When they don't, a small red "splits ≠ making" note appears directly under the row's Making field (hover it and MakrPrep spells it out: "Splits don't add up to the making qty").
What to expect
The flag clears the moment the splits sum correctly.

Common issues

  • Splits add up but the flag won't clear — confirm you're comparing against the row's current making value, not an earlier one, since new orders can shift it after you've already split.
