Bulk upload
This article helps you bulk-upload data instead of entering it one item at a time.
Before you start
Have your source file ready in the right format for what you're uploading.
Steps
- Open Bulk Upload (under Workspace). There's a tab per data type: Orders, Ingredients, Recipes, Components, Suppliers, Customers.
Use CSV for Orders, Suppliers, Customers, and Ingredients. Each tab has a Download template link showing the expected columns.

Bulk Upload's Orders tab, showing the CSV drop zone and 'Download Orders Template CSV' Use XLSX for Recipes and Components, one item per worksheet, mirroring how each looks in the app itself.

Bulk Upload's Recipes tab, showing the .xlsx drop zone and 'Download Recipe Template (Excel)' - Review the results: duplicate names are skipped per row, with a summary report showing what was skipped and why.
- Any allergen value in the file that isn't part of MakrPrep's recognised list is rejected per row.
What to expect
Re-uploading a file you've already imported won't create duplicates, but it also won't update anything that changed. Edit those records directly instead.
Common issues
- A recipe/component didn't import: check it's in XLSX format with one item per worksheet, not CSV.
- Rows silently missing after upload: check the summary report for skipped duplicates or rejected allergen values.
