Getting Started

Setting up your business

This article helps you configure MakrPrep's account-wide defaults before you start adding data.

Before you start
Have your account created and be signed in.

Steps

  1. Open Settings, an accordion with "Expand all"/"Collapse all": Business Setup, Pricing & Orders, Appearance, Communications, Billing, Data, Account controls.
  2. Under Business Setup: Currency; Allergen standards (see below); Recipe categories; Component categories; Tags (shared between recipes and components).
  3. Under Allergen standards, tick which standards you want offered when tagging: UK (the official UK 14), US (the official US Big 9), and/or Other recognised allergens (Canada, Australia/New Zealand). This controls what's offered as options, anything already tagged stays visible regardless, and bulk uploads still accept every recognised allergen.
  4. Under Pricing & Orders: pricing tiers, Order statuses, Production statuses (two separate lists, see "Managing pricing tiers and production statuses"), and a low-stock threshold ("Keep enough for N batch(es) of every recipe using it").
  5. Under Appearance: seven colour themes (Light, Dark, Pastel Pink, Red, Blue, Green, Amber), a "Hide cost & profit figures" toggle, a "Hide revenue figures" toggle, and a "Show help tips" toggle for the small "?" hint icons.

What to expect
Both the cost/profit and revenue toggles under Appearance are display preferences, anyone with access to the account can turn them back on, so they're for tidying up what's on screen rather than restricting access.

Common issues

  • Looking for a UK/US-only region setting, Allergen standards lets you tick any combination of UK, US, and other regional standards at once, and it only affects what's offered when tagging, not what's already tagged.
  • Looking for a Components on/off switch, there isn't one; Components is a standing item in the Library for every account.
